Surprises me how so many people think that the default position is on the drops. I reckon I use the drops for less than 5% of the time.

Clockwise from top left.

Most of the time.

Quite a bit of the time in towns & on rough tracks (cross-top levers)

Some of the time, although def' every ride, just because it is quite a comfy position and I can take in the countryside nicely from that position.

A lot less than 5%.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg When I mentioned the drops, i.actually meant drop bars not actually the drops, as per the previous post, most time was spent on the hoods or curves.

The photos show the butcher job I did - until I can afford replacement bars.
Re my neck - had problem for over a year, it gad got better-ish before I had cardiac work done in November, but after 4-weeks off the bike, first evening returning home on the commute I oulked the offending muscle in my neck and was in agony overnight.
