My bell has one of those spinny things inside - it works perfectly OK when wet but is a little bit quieter - some of the treble is missing but not much
personally I prefer them because
a) people seem to hear them more easily than a single ping
b) people associate them with bikes more easily - especially old people
c) they were the only ones I knew about when I was growing up - so they seem 'right' to me

Thanks for your post sadly I can't read double Dutch 😉I like to think the forlorn, dull, apathetic report of a waterlogged bell suggests the rider's usually-chirpy little handlebar mounted companion is equally as non-plussed about the weather as the rider
