Thanks all for your best wishes. Tomorrow is D-day, but first I've got to get a dog-proof side gate fitted in the morning before we get him, nothing's straightforward is it?

Cool video NT  , i hope FF's whippet doesnt end up looking like that dog

Cool dog FF, its exciting when you get one.
Just if, if you ever consider getting a crate because he maybe 'playful or chewey' at night or when the house is empty, my lab loves his. Its a strange thing, it seems to us like caging them, but mine took to his crate so easily.

Funnily enough we took it down a few weeks ago after two years, Jake seemed a bit listless at first. Then he was 'naughty' the other night so we put it back up for him...he was like a dog with two bones  , he virtually threw himself in there

The thing with the cage is to make it a friendly and safe place for the dog to go to.
We all need our own 'quiet' space and, be it a bed or a cage, if the dog knows it is a safe and secure place to be then it will be happy to be there.
Just don't use it as a punishment and be sure to leave the dog alone when it is in there.
