When a humerous thread has to be locked, how on earth did that go so wrong. As Londoner living in the country I really hope that I did not offend anybody with my posts, if I did it was certainly not my intention to do so.

Most threads go wrong as we have quite a few keyboard warriors on here that can't be civil. And us mods have lives to get on with so when folk complain that reports haven't been followed up it's because we are in the real world and not ranting at people from behind a screen.

I give up. We can guarantee which threads are going to get nasty as soon as they start. It's the members of the forum who are causing the problems

I would like to personally thank all mods for the work they do, having been there and got the T shirt I know it can be a hard task.

A gentle reminder. When a member starts to collect warning points they might like to reconsider what they are posting. The system automatically tallies these and issues temporary suspensions.

Points are issued due to numerous reports from different members.

There are quite a number of people who are 1 point away from a long suspension and just 2 points from a permanent ban. Just saying....

Got to agree with you queasy being on the receiving of something I found pretty nasty by two posters on that thread who have a cheek to be offended and come out with crap. They know who they are.

Anything goes though so long as it gets a cheap laugh.

A forum is only as good as members contributions.

If a thread develops into a slanging match then its only the members fault.

Mods rely on reports but remember we have a life so may not log in until breakfast, lunch or in the evening. Reports will be dealt with but can be 12 hours later.

Oh and please bear in mind it's Friday, the day that postings start to deteriorate and we get the Friday and Saturday bun fights. Please think twice what you are posting, especially after lots of beer or wine, it might just end in a permanent ban.

members shouldn't be allowed to see the points they have amassed, as this will just curb their inflammatory posts for a while. A temporary ban will focus the mind, far quicker imo

Temporary bans come in after 3 warnings and get longer. 4 gets a day, 5 gets 3 days, 6 a week, 7 a month and 8 you are shown the door. So there are plenty of warnings before the first ban comes in.

I sometimes think that those "being nasty" aren't really nasty people. Being nasty is a bit of a game to them,it's a personality they've developed for their online life and one they wouldn't use if they met other posters face to face. For example, i used to argue with another poster on a football forum, years ago. We arranged to have a "meet up". Not to have set to or anything daft,no it was because my football team were playing his and we thought it'd be good to have a face to face chat in the pub. Apart from him being a bit of a weirdo(like me:whistle:),he was quite a nice chap. He probably said/thought the same thing about me. From then on the online nastiness between us stopped, though he did suggest keeping it up for the benefit of the other users, who seemed to enjoy reading about our animosity towards each other.
But how would we know if we are getting it wrong ? I have no idea how many points I have (if any) I know I have upset some in the past (my joking does not always come out as funny as I hope) but I'm not sure if I have ever stepped over that line of unacceptability - I hope I haven't.

I seem to have completely missed that London thread, I'm sure I could have quite enjoyed myself in there ^_^

so what happened ? clearly all the naughty bits have been deleted. So again, if all the juicy bits have gone there are no examples to view of where the unacceptability line is drawn.
I wonder this too, do we get a notification. I only remember getting a couple of posts deleted (involving a certain trike riding member who no longer posts on here) but never remember getting told off for it ?
