Yeah, Worship Music is good.

It depends what you mean by "hard listen". I like jazz fusion, Mr Bungle and Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica, not to mention a lot of grindcore, death metal, black metal etc.

By "hard listen" I mean in compared to other stuff by the same band.

Metal itself is a "hard listen" to most folks and they just don't like it because of its power (in my opinion) or they think it's all about evil and killing things... some is, but the vast majority of rock n metal is about fighting evil if anything.

I'm not a fan of death and black metal myself. The lyrical style grates with me although the music is awesome in the most part. Pantera is about as extreme vocals as I can stand.

they're one of my artists I work with.

Not yet .... my mate (and new cyclist!) Irish Peter is a fan and saw them recently at the Cambridge Folk festival, I think he has just got the latest albums. He's such a bad influence on me ....

I first heard them on the radio (possibly Mark Radcliffe) and was immediately taken with them. It's not just her haunting voice, but she has a Jazz musicians use of unexpected chords (or at least not the obvious tune direction).
Fab. Must be an interesting bunch to work with.

I used to like what we called hard rock, and punk.

Most of it now grates on me.

I remember John Peel speculating if, say, a Led Zep fan graduated to Val Doonican with advancing age.

I've not gone that far, but I now prefer the Carpenters to Iron Maiden.

Invariably I find myself listening to at least one of these every month. I try to get an album by a new artist every year -Mumford and sons, Jake Bugg, etc. My most recent favourite has been Royal Blood, some excellent tracks on that -I await their next album with great interest and anticipation.
