Emma Jean by Lee Fields. He's a veteran .soul man who's been around the block a good few times and really honed his stuff. Sounds like a cross between James Brown and Al Green-I've been playing it all the time. Standout track:Eye to Eye (as is usually the way,him and his good lady just can't see eye to eye....)

Given you can spend relatively little for an album, I do like the idea of getting at least one new album a year, from an artist you've never heard of (and usually is contemporary). You can end up with some really good music.

I know you can certainly say that older music is "classic", but I do think there are still some very talented groups out there no matter what decade it is. On the flip side, I think every decade has its pop bubble gum dross that has flimsy musical foundations as well.

Edit: there used to be a time when I would have several of the albums in the top 40, I haven't owned an album that's charted for years, I'm getting old.

Wouldn't get bored with much of that list Ian.

Bomber ... Motorhead's finest hour
Judas Priest... I'd go with Stained Class as their best album
Metallica... I prefer Load and Reload over anything else they've done (blasphemer!)
Ah Therapy? One of the finest and most underated bands ever. I've got all their stuff and I'd put Suicide Pact You First as their best album followed by Troublegum and High Anxiety

Bands you didn't mention .... Anthrax - We've Come For You All is awesome and way underated.
The Almighty.... Their first 2 or 3 albums are a bit generic rock n roll that don't exactly displease the ear.... but then they released Crank, Just Add Life and The Almighty which are 3 fine albums

Rock n roll :wahhey:

Strained Class is brilliant, though I was looking at it as albums that changed my life. I could quite happily never listen to Living After Midnight ever again. But metal Gods I could listen on repeat until the day I die.
Metallica.. Load & Reload? really?.. Better then Lighting and Puppets? YedGods man that is just so wrong on so many levels :-) . Though Until It Sleeps is a monster of a track. I honestly don't think Metallica will ever make another great album.
Therapy? Suicide First.. Sister has to have one of the greatest guitar riffs ever put down on tape.
Anthrax. I was never a great fan of Belladona, but Persistence Of Time is a huge monster of an album, more riffs then you can shake a stick at. I'm more of a John Bush fan. Agree about We've Come for You All, great album.

I love the Almighty, always thought Ricky Warwick was one of those great, talented musicians that never got the recognition he deserves.

I'd go for ...And Justice For All for Metallica. It took me a while to get into and has remained a favourite after the effort. Death Magnetic has really grown on my too though. I like pretty much everything from Anthrax but prefer Joey to John.
