Just an update to all this, finally bought an Orbea Orca road bike, yes I know completely off the scale but let me loose in a bike shop and I always spend twice as much as my budget! :-)
I didn't go the mail order route and stuck with a LBS, got a deal, free service etc and its going to be easier to have it fitted for me and any warranty issues...
