Currently reading Ginger You're Barmy by David Lodge. I assume the author based the book on his experience of national service. Not bad, seems pretty realistic.
eBay has quite a few collections on tree and individual copied for about £3 each. :-)
Well on the strength of this one, I will get to themThe later books are far better
Bearing in mind @SatNavSaysStraightOn's horrific experience with wild dogs in Turkey, that has definitely caused Turkey to drop off my 'Must Tour By Bike' list!Currently reading 'Cycling to The Ashes - a cricketing odyssey from London to Brisbane' about a bloke (Oli Broom) who cycles to Australia (in 2009) with a cricket bat strapped to his pannier rack. He's just reached Turkey and has discovered a cricket bat is a very useful defence against packs of large wild dogs.
On the sporting front A Terrible Splendor by Marshall Jon Fisher is a terrific read, about a Davis Cup Match in 1937, America vs Germany, one man playing for Pride and the other for his life.Currently reading 'Cycling to The Ashes - a cricketing odyssey from London to Brisbane' about a bloke (Oli Broom) who cycles to Australia (in 2009) with a cricket bat strapped to his pannier rack. He's just reached Turkey and has discovered a cricket bat is a very useful defence against packs of large wild dogs. A really good read so far.
"Absolutely..."Bravo two zero - Andy McNab. Gets better with every read.![]()
Must look it up, combines two of my favourite pastimes! Though we flew to Australia when we went to see the Ashes :-(Currently reading 'Cycling to The Ashes - a cricketing odyssey from London to Brisbane' about a bloke (Oli Broom) who cycles to Australia (in 2009) with a cricket bat strapped to his pannier rack.
