Bought a 06 Passat saloon this week. :smile: Too good an opportunity to pass up as it was going for just under half the book price with full history, etc. It's got electric windows, cup-holders and a towbar, but (currently)missing a bike rack and AUX input.

This meant i said bye-bye to my trusty Golf 3 :sad: Not allowed to keep it, i've been told. But, i've made sure it's gone to a good home.

It's funny how attached we become to 'things'. I thought i was bad, but the fella we bought the Passat from was worse than me. He told me a story about selling an Opel Kadett to a neighbour some years ago. He would pass the car on the way home from work and, occasionally, stop and check the oil level! I've said he can come and take the car for a ride every once in a while, but hope it doesn't come to this.

I like your OCD cleaning!^_^

At the moment;

'11' plate Octavia Tdi estate;
Cracking car, huge load-space, comfortable, high MPG, VED is only £30/year!, lovely torquey engine.
Only downsides for me - no DAB radio

'61' plate Fiat Panda;
Cheap insurance, VED is £30/year, gutless as it's only the 1.0litre so does't like hills - unless you drive it like an Italian (rev-limter everywhere!!!)

Last cars were;
Defender 110Td5 CSW
Jaguar XKR
Ford C-Max (most horrible thing on wheels - even worse than a B*W)

You are the lucky one Colin for not being dragged in to the car culture thingy !
When I was a teenager, I had one driving lesson from my dad on the private access road to the family croft in the Highlands. All was going well until I got over-confident and started going too fast. My dad raised his voice and told me to slow down. I got flustered and pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. He shouted at me 'STOP!' so I floored what I thought was the brake ... The car lunged towards a concrete gate post and my irate father shoved me away from the wheel, steered away from the post, turned off the engine, and stopped using the handbrake.

And that was my driving career, in one paragraph! :laugh:
