What else should fish 'n' chip shops sell?

Chippy nearest to me sells fishcakes, which is I believe, a combination of potato and fish.
As for cups of tea while you are waiting, I'd suggest you need to change chippy if you are waiting that long. A chippy to me is fast food. If have have waited long enough for a brew to be made, then it has failed that definition. As such, unless there are extenuating circumstances, my business will be taken elsewhere. And if the chippy is so good to justify a wait long enough to brew a cup of tea, then I would rather those behind the counter get on with serving those in front of me, rather than faffing around making cups of tea.

I went into a chippy in macc a few months ago and asked for fish, chips, mushy peas scraps & gravy (in that order!) and they looked at me blankly. when I explained what scraps were they showed me a big dirty box full of the batter bits ready to go in the bin

I thought they was meant to be sophisticated in Cheshire?

I can't find the story online but our local generic chippy/pizza/kebab place was raided having turned the upstairs into a weed factory.

I've since changed it to "deep fried drugs" to keep in the spirit of the thread
