I asked for a side dish of quinoa but got a funny look.
Was it something I said?

Books. Pass the time while waiting. One near me takes such an unseasonably long time to serve you you'd probably have time to read Bleak House.

Magic tree airfresheners to mask the smell of stale chips in the car afterwards.

Scraps are part of the staple diet in East Yorkshire.

Scraps are those batter bits that come off the fish. I've never known anyone else call them scraps. What do they call them where you are?

It was known as 'crackling' down my way and used to be free when i was a wee nipper:okay:

LCpl Boiled Egg

Three word soundbite
Pineapple fritters.
Cans of shandy for the adults and plastic cups of "orange" drink for the little 'uns.
A single pickled egg in an enormous jar so I can say "I'll clear that egg up for you as well while I'm here"

I am partial to a fish finger myself.
So is Miss Goodbody.

Mock Chops, Red Pudding. Although I think they might only be available in a limited geographic area in Eastern Scotland* They are outstanding.

I think I might go to the chippie for tea tonight.

* Unfortunately I no longer live in that geographic area, so will have to make do with fish'n'chips

And what are Potatoes if not vegetables? Jeez:smile:

Yes scraps as well where I'm from, but that's Whitby so you'd expect that.

Crab bites, scampi and curry sauce was also a staple in Whitby. My local down here does very good kebabs
