What emergency food?

I always have as an emergency meal some quick cook pasta and a packet of soup (Knorr or similar). Cooked together they can make a tasty carb filled meal. My wife thinks it funny that I have often carried from home and returned with the same packet of soup but at least I know I have it for that emergency camp meal.

Similarly for me. I always take macaroni with me (macaroni for the more compact size and shorter boil times compared to other pasta shapes, and Italian for the taste). Add a bit of pesto and some grated Parmezan and you have the basics of a palatable meal. If you can do additional shopping, all the better. If not, you are at least done for calories. With pasta, the weight and volume only come when you boil it, so it is my ideal emergency food. At the same time, it is always a good ingredient for a nicer meal. Eat it as a first course, and fry some meat, chicken or fish for a main course, with a nice salad.

Not now in my mid 60's I'm not. Those days are long gone.

I watched a documentary on the Legion a while back, looks like the hard graft version of the normal Army, which is bloody hard as it is.

I take my kepi blanc off to you! ^_^

Water added pasta type thing with a pepperami chopped up for protien if you have a way of heating water, if not make friends with a squaddy and get some rations of them, I'm sure eBay has them added with an MRE heater all you need is some water( from any source as you won't be drinking it).
