Atomic Blonde.
I had bruises just from watching this!
Twisty and hard hitting. 6/10.

Over the last few evenings I've watched Planet of the Apes (1968) and Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970). The former is a classic, the latter goes a bit leftfield about two thirds through and is possibly the clanger of the original franchise, although not an absolute clanger in itself. Looking forward to watching Escape from the Planet of the Apes, which i recall being quite good.

Also watched a 1950s CFF film, Adventure in the Hop Fields, featuring a very young Melvin Hayes, and the 60s classic Village of the Damned. The only thing wrong with this film is the title change.

Our Kind of Traitor

Typical le Carré in that the pacing is fairly slow and it leaves some unanswered questions.
Interesting story, and good performances, particularly from the 4 main leads (Ewan McGregor, Naomie Harris, Stellan Skarsgård (he's always good) and Damian Lewis)

Not as good as The Night Manager.

Two years later I’ve finally watched this, Our Kind Of Traitor, on Amazon Prime.

Im not sure about this one, maybe I’ll need to read the book but it feels a bit light on story.

The characterisation is great and I think the leads suck you in, but ultimately haven’t we just heard this story before? Don’t we need something more, or am I being unfair in expecting new complexity and twists in spy stories?

Otherwise, it’s very good...7/10

Downsizing - original idea is that to reduce our impact on the world we all get shrunk to about 4inches tall and live in miniature cities. Soon becomes clear it's all about being artificially rich - then we discover people are still poor. THrow in a mad cult and melting ice glaciers and erm that's the end. 4/10

The Rock.

Terrible. I cringed every time they kept referring to marines as soldiers, which was a lot.

3/10.

Oh come on. The Rock is a really fun, idiotic film.
It's not high art, but of it's genre it ticks all the boxes.

Zardoz. (1974). Weird stuff from John Boorman. I remember watching it when it came out, but could not remember what it was about. I am still not sure what it was trying to say, if anything. I will have to watch it again.
