John Wick No 4 (the one where <spoiler removed>)
Sort of OK.
In so many films these days the "fight sequences" look to me more like a well rehearsed dance - which I suppose it what they really are. And I find they get a bit tiresome.

That was my review on release. They could have cut 1/2 hour out of the film purely from the fight scenes without losing anything. They are that repetitive.

Anyone seen One Battle After Another yet? Getting some rave reviews.

Yer. Not last night, though - the other day (matinees being a benefit of retirement). Contemporary psychological thriller, actors pretending to be other people (rather than just their image in another role), worth the £8 ticket price.
My ‘take away’ was DiCaprio’s character trying to contact revolutionary HQ, and being put on ‘hold’ to a Communist speech rather than ‘hold music’.

High Treason
1951 B/W Boulting thiller from the Red Scare era.
Scurrilous members of The Party subverting decent, honest Britain with sabotage and infiltration.
Fortunatey, the boys from Mi5 and Special Branch are hot on their heels.
Phew!

Not last night but over the last few nights, Commando - brought to mind a recent contribution to the cartoons thread...

Excellent stuff! Arnie - never lets you down.

"I let him go."

And, a longtime favourite, Midnight Run. An absolute belter of a buddy movie, with loads of action, genuinely funny humour, brilliant plot twists, and real heart.

Midnight run is also a favourite of ours. Apparently de Niro and Grodin didn't get on, so acting out the antipathy between their characters was easy.

Meant to post this last night. Play Dirty on Prime.
You will be expecting a by the numbers Marky Mark action flic except this one isn't. It is still utter drivel full of plot holes but the twists and turns keep twisting and turning making it entertaining drivel. Perfectly acceptable for the genre.

Commando is one of Arnie's finest, 'hah, I eat green berets for breakfast, and right now I'm very hungry.'

'Oh my god, I can't believe this macho bullshit.'

And not forgetting, 'let off some steam Bennett,' as he despatches one of the Village People.

Commando was good fun but almost comic like in it's approach as so over the top for Arnie. Predator was a really good, proper film. Yes of course not realistic but it was very well done.
