Not last night but over the last few nights, Commando - brought to mind a recent contribution to the cartoons thread...
Excellent stuff! Arnie - never lets you down.

And, a longtime favourite, Midnight Run. An absolute belter of a buddy movie, with loads of action, genuinely funny humour, brilliant plot twists, and real heart.

Midnight run is also a favourite of ours. Apparently de Niro and Grodin didn't get on, so acting out the antipathy between their characters was easy.

You will be expecting a by the numbers Marky Mark action flic except this one isn't. It is still utter drivel full of plot holes but the twists and turns keep twisting and turning making it entertaining drivel. Perfectly acceptable for the genre.

Commando isnt a patch on Predator. The scene where Bill Duke lets rip at the forest with Old Painless isnthe most testosterone drenched in the history of cinema.

That's the thing with Commando, it doesn't pretend to be serious and is just a brilliant piece of fun.
The writer must have had an eye on the Roger Moore Bond films for inspiration.
And Charles Dance, he plays a great baddie, the way he can stay completely serious in Ali G in da House when everyone around him is dicking about is top class.

There's a thing I have been pondering for a while.
Why are all the best baddies English? The extends, and was highlighted, in Hollywood movies. I'm guessing use of tone.
