The Immortal Man (Peaky Blinders)

Made for Netflix but a few select cinemas showing in advance of release - if you like and miss Peaky Blinders, you'll probably love this.

House Full of Dynamite on Netflix.
It was ok, not fabulous but no regrets watching it.
Incoming nuclear warhead, no one knows who launched it, layers the responses from the various agencies involved...strange ending

Brilliant film. Sellers is superb, but his portrayal of Group Captain Lionel Mandrake was stunning - he really captured the air of a slightly weary mid ranking military officer settling down for an antisocial hours shift before it all goes sideways.

And Slim Pickens was something else. Sellers was going to play that role as well but Kubrick felt it would be too much for the actor, so confined him to the 3 characters of Stangelove, Muffley, and Mandrake.

Started watching 'Recovery' about a team of crach investigators. Fairly entertaining, usual twisits, family isuues withing the team members etc., but was rather irritated when the plot neede a witnes in Dublin to be interviewed.
The investigator rocked up with two 'policemen' on green uniforms.
Er no. Right colour uniforms, but wrong labels. We don't have police in Eire, we have the Garda whoi serve pretty much the same function but their uniforms are clearly labelled 'Garda'.
A very basic blooper by the wardrobe dept.

We have the Steve Coogan version lined up at home to watch - it can't possibly live up to the Kubrick/Sellers version,. but I'm hopeful for a good "re-imagining".

Just seen a preview of "Project Hail Mary". My son keeps enthusing about 70mm imax projections on a very large screen, but this is the 1st time I've appreciated quite how impressive it can be.
It helps that i enjoyed the movie too! I'll give it 4 out of 5.

Me too. Very much had a Matt Damon Martian feel to it but less skatalogical. I mean, I fell asleep during the middle but that was as much to do with too much tapas and ice cream beforehand and I was able to keep up with the plot (plus it'll be on prime soon I suspect).

Have anyone else ever seen it?

Went to see Mothers Pride at the local cinema this afternoon. It’s a bit cheesy but there are some good laugh out moments.

Finestkind.

Had started watching this a while back while doing the ironing and it disappeared from Paramount+ before I could watch the second half.

Well, its back and I corrected that oversight.

Beautifully shot with a sort of Neo Western Taylor Sheriden feel to it, although he has only a minor producers role, breathtaking plot twist near the end, all topped up with arguably the finest performance of Tommy Lee Jone's career.

The two brothers in the plot give an air of Hell or High Water to proceedings, which is no bad thing.

Not quite as good as HoHW, which is boosted by a tremendous performances from Foster, Bridges, Birmingham and Pine, whereas this has to rely on a heavyweight effort largely from TLJ alone, but it genuinely runs it close.

A very well deserved 9/10.

Von Ryan's Express

One of my all time favourite war films.

9/10, it only misses out on a 10/10 because it's not Where Eagles Dare.
