The Shanghai Job.
I'm a bit stuck for words really. It's well made, looks good, the story is a bit 'off'. It rattles along well enough and reminds me of an early Jackie Chan, without the martial arts. Good on Orlando for signing up to something different.
This film gets a right slating on IMDB but I kinda enjoyed it. 5/10.

Thor: Ragnarok.
Enjoyable stuff. Plenty going on, no wasted time. A baddie in a tight catsuit. Jeff Goldblum being a bit typecast. Lots of one liners - just like Guardians of the Galaxy 2. I've not seen Age of Ultron so I think I missed something.
8/10.

Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) ...I thought I'd seen them all when I was a kid but maybe not. This rang no bells. Enjoyable nonsense which sees our subjugated simian cousins take their first steps towards freedom, and dominance.

I've still got Escape and Conquest to go in my box set. I half recall them being a bit on the ropey side, but good to hear they're not awfull

just checked - so it does.... plus the Bonham carter one (which I don't have high expectations of), plus the first of the new ones - which i've seen on telly and enjoyed

Took me a while to find a box set that didn't have the Tim Burton remake... like all his films it looks fantastic but like many of his films, it's total pants.

I generally like Tim Burton films - Scisorhands, and the Batman film for instance are great

True... Mars Attacks, Ed Wood, Corpse Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas are all great too... I think more recent movies such as Alice in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have tarnished his reputation in my book.

Not the best, but a slight return to form after the poor effort with 3. The Fleet Air arm better watch out if we ever go to war - all the enemy needs to do is attack with a platoon of John McLanes and our high tech jet will be defeated.

Watchable, but not the most exciting thing you'll see.
