The Captain - an opportunist deserter becomes a Luftwaffe captain, solves prison camp problems and avoids martial court. Good movie, some hilarious bits mixed with shocking, as good as anything recent on the subject 4/5

6 Days.

A sort of docudrama about the Iranian Embassy siege and the SAS operation to end it.

A few technical mistakes, the SAS arrived and left in Range Rovers and not transits, Kate Adie was never that hot, and the weapons drills were a bit iffy.

For all that, it was watchable, an I interesting historical piece.

6/10.

Over the last 3 days we have watched episodes 7,8 and 9 of the Star wars trilogy
Today's was the best one in my mind
Great minds!

Watched The Force Awakens last night and will be watching Last Jedi tonight and Rise of Skywalker tomorrow.

I have very few gripes with these movies, my main one being Adam Driver... If he was playing the adopted son of Han and Leia he'd be fine, but he just doesn't look like their offspring. His nose is too big.

The Belles of St. Trinian's. George Cole, Joyce Grenfell and Alastair Sim in drag - what's not to like? Turned out to be a lot better than I expected, with excellent performances from the above and others, all of whom seemed to be having a simply marvellous time, and some cracking one-liners, eg, Pupil: Monica Drew wasn't expelled when she burnt down the gymnasium. Head: The gymnasium was insured.

Not a film, but TV stuff anyways. Line of Duty season two yesterday, season three today. Man, that stuff really takes a hold on you.
Mrs Crank away for a couple of days, so house to myself, and too hot to do anything else.
That's a dozen hours of gripping TV done, need a break now, two more series to download still........

The Last Jedi... I wish the entire casino planet scene wasn't there. It makes me cringe every time. Other than that, lots of fun, apart from the fact that Adam Driver's face really doesn't fit the part.

[edit]... forgot to mention what's great about this film (Kylo Ren's nose got in the way). I love how it's desolate from start to finish. The Rebels are fighting a losing battle and every loss is a big one... huge, in fact. Even Finn and Rose's mission, which the plot revolves around, fails spectacularly.

And then there's Holdo's sacrifice... an absolutely amazing scene; stark, shattering and silent.
Out of context it lacks any impact, but here it is anyway:

Passengers. I can’t help but like this film. Some nice space-scapes and a feel-good story with a moral dilemma. Some very iffy physics but then most space films suffer this.

Six Headed Shark Attack.

No seriously you read that right, Six Headed Shark Attack.

A low budget pile of nonsense taped a while back off the horror channel, it just about manages to stay on the right side of, 'so bad it's good.'

5/10.

Rise of Skywalker... not sure why two light sabres gave Rey the edge over Emperor Palpatine in what i feel is a rather weak climax, but other than that, a joyful finale to the Skywalker saga.

When it was announced that Disney had bought Lucasfilm and would be making more Star Wars movies, it sounded like a terrible idea... but it's the best thing that happened to the franchise. George Lucas cocked up the prequels big time and Disney have brought it back on track. No idea what the next trilogy is going to be about... reportedly it's going to be unconnected to the Skywalker saga, but they said that about Rogue One... plus there's an Obi Wan tv series in the pipeline, and a Cassian & K2-SO series too... if they're half as good as The Madalorian, they'll be well worth a look.
