Thunderbolts

First 2/3 of the film - 8/10
Last 1/3 of the film - 4/10

Though I kept falling asleep and it took 3 goes to finish, this was my fault for putting it on too late! Anyway Thunderbolts is the latest MCU film, I'm not 100% sure what the overall story is up to now other than its set after the latest Captain America film and is the last before we get Fantastic Four/Dr Doom.

The reason I rate the first 2/3 of the film so highly compared to the last 1/3 is the cast, they have a real dynamic and its pleasing to watch a team up movie where the banter and jokes don't feel forced. They even interact well with the villains and overall its just fun to watch. Then 'the big bad' appears and it all falls apart, its just a bit dull as it has the problem of introducing a villain that is overpowered for our heroes, they could have done with a cameo from one of the other supers that could help them rather than the psuedo psychiatry solution they do go with.

Its better than Captain America Brave New World though!

Public Enemies (2009 film) (recently on Freeview)
OK but didn't hold my attention. Thought it would be an interesting story but it's long and so much seemed to be just a chase with lots of shooting and running around/cars and slow uneventful interludes.

Didn't manage to persist to the end. Some might enjoy but it didn't hold my attention.

(I seem to have become more ready to abandon films part way through. Maybe me or maybe the new production companies are more cost concious needing quantity more than content, maybe direct to TV doesn't provide the revenue cinema releases used ...).

Drivel ... but actually really fun. Bit like a Guy Richie film (but it isn't). Pure adventure fun, no thought involved.

Whilst the final end is predictable it isn't really much of an aspect in the film and what's coming next isn't so predictable. I enjoyed it.

Agreed. Ticks all the boxes for what it is.
The main character is the banter between the leads.

George and the Dragon. A enjoyable, light hearted romp through Medieval times, but don’t base your dissertation on it.
Notable for the appearance of Bill Oddie.

We watched that too. Very silly but not too bad. It would actually have made a half decent action film without the dumb comedy, but it filled half an evening anyway

To say the film is immense is an understatement. The camera work, the filming and the noise of (inside) the cars, the races and crashes are incredible. Really gives you a tiny sense of what it must be like in one of the cars. Very well made. OK, the story is completely bonkers, unbelievable and unrealistic and as a F1 fan you could pick a 1001 holes in it but I loved it. As someone previously said, Rocky in all but name.

We're just back from seeing that, although not in IMAX mode. Still, the filming was very impressive and engaging. Story is bonkers, as well as predictable, but enjoyable nonetheless.

What an absolute pile of carp, save yourself the bother, it got turned off half way through, the director & script writer should be sued for making Joaquin Phoenix & Lady Ga Ga act this complete turkey out

You at least saved yourself from the twist ending, won't share but ending it that way really demeans the first film.

I haven't seen it BTW I read the reviews then looked up the plot when I decided I wasn't interested.
