Naked Gun. All the absurd ‘action scenes’, all the dad jokes, all the homage, all the running gags - but that’s not important right now. Stay for the end credits with the original ‘police light’ scene.

the "original" 1988 film of the more recent 2025 one. Not seen the 2025 version but 1988 was good.

Reminds me of the two "Hot Shots" film which I also enjoyed, maybe time to rewatch those.

Kinda Pregnant - on Amazon with Tashwife and Tashgirl. Not one I would recommend really but it passed the time and was ideal for a tired family sofa chill out. Pretty instantly forgettable but a couple of smile raising moments.

If you don't know the story, as it's based on a book, don't look it up and just enjoy the journey.
Better still, do the walk. This is a good read too, if you enjoyed the book/film.
It certainly makes you understand the isolation of the journey and the time it took.
Most of it's only a short walk from the nearest road, but it makes you realise how little the average motorist walks, because you hardly see a soul in between the tourist beaches.

Morituri
1965, peak Marlon Brando playing against Yul Brynner.
WW2 German merchant ship carrying rubber must get to the fatherland with captain Yul Brynner under duress.
Marlon Brando is the German playboy recruited under duress by British spymaster to ensure it doesnt get there.
Two men playing cat and mouse for causes they dont believe in.
They dont make movies like this anymore.

Having discovered to my delight gritty 1983 Ray Winston vehicle Scum on Youtube I've been gently tickling through that pending an evening of enough attention allocation to watch it all.

A great film in its own right I love it especially for its intrinsic, nostalgic Britishness - the old, likely now lost Victorian correctional facilities and bleak winter landscape..

Buy new - £65
Buy used - £8.54

I'm all for supporting authors but thats absurd! I've added it to the buy later list, I have a backlog as long as that walk to get through.....
I'd not noticed the price, but I read it for free from the library. Most of the second hand books I've had off Amazon have been pretty much mint condition.

It appears that this interweb thingy will let you pick a cinema and find out what films are showing, but you can't pick a film and find out the nearest cinema that's screening it. Isn't technology wonderful.

Is Neeson not racist any more, or has he been forgiven?

No idea?
If I don’t worry about my plumber being racist, I’m certainly not going to worry about someone playing the fool on screen. I just want them to do the job for the price agreed.
In any event, I’m in no position to criticise - I’m happy to be ‘racist’. I like to hate the whole human race, equally - I find if you only hate one group, they get entitled.

He was perceived to be racist over some comments he made while promoting Cold Pursuit a couplethree years ago and came close to being cancelled. I guess hes been forgiven if hes nabbed a starring role in a high profile summer release.

Oh.
Not his usual fare, anyway.

Amazon Women on the Moon (again)
Brilliant though some ideas work better than others and I suspect what I consider works better might differ from what others might think works better.

But excellent film.

Confirm or Deny, 1941, with a very young Roddy McDowell, and a bomb. Go-getting American newspaperman in 1940 London finds integrity.
