I'm ambivalent about Marmite and Wes Anderson. Where on earth does that leave me?

Meg 2: The Trench

I felt obliged as it starred The Stath but moly holy it's rubbish. Obviously just a vehicle to show what good eggs China are regards conservation etc but it was terrible.
Can only assume Mr Statham was contractually committed but hopefully he's not signed up to any more.

I find all his films are like that. His accent is so terrible, it's now his trademark. And quite a few have the same plot i.e tortured soul ex-forces becomes the reluctant hero

He is somewhat(!) typecast but I don't mind it to be honest. You know what you're getting and most are good harmless albeit very violent good fun with him kicking ass of a variety of baddies but this was just tosh.

The Thursday murder club 5/10
Haven't read the books but I understand that the screenplay wasn't written by Osman (of whose radio/podcast work I'm a big fan).
It was like someone threw a ton of money at an episode of Tales of the unexpected, which bought a stellar cast but not much more.
No doubt the wave of curiosity will mean that a sequel will follow but I can't see it becoming and endless franchise (& sadly when you're dealing with that talent demographic, the Thursday death by natural causes club is likely to have a growing membership).
