The Tank on Prime. Very well reviewed, acted, and shot. I thought it would be a different take on most WWII films we see.
Had a few twists but if you haven't predicted the end after 15 minutes then I'll be surprised. A fine 5/10 but don't go out of your way.

I really enjoyed the full but was so disappointed in the ending. It seemed as though the director didn't really know how to end the film and went for the obvious.

Predator - Badlands (Disney+). I loved all the previous movies and had been waiting to watch this one for ages. TL:biggrin:R - it was ok but a bit silly.

To start off, the make-up/prosthetics of the Predators is quite different to the previous movies. I can't say they are worse, but they just don't seem to look realistic. Quite soon into the movie, we are introduced to a couple of annoying characters that seemed to have been put in to satisfy the "action comedy" requirement that many movies now have. It's a bit silly but later becomes quite important to the plot.

The fight scenes and general CGI action all the way through are quite good. The plot is actually ok and makes sense. Not the Predator movies of old, and certainly a very different feel to most of the others, but I'd give it a 6.7/10

Predator a really great film

Predator 1 yes. Pred2 not so much but still a good watch. I also liked all the subsequent ones (except I haven't watched the animated "killer of killers yet). It's weird how people like different films, I would have said Pred 2 was the worst, but IMDB ratings disagree:

  1. Predator (1987) - IMDB Rating: 7.8/10
  2. Predator 2 (1990) - IMDB Rating: 6.3/10
  3. Alien vs. Predator (2004) - IMDB Rating: 5.6/10
  4. Alien vs. Predator: Requiem (2007) - IMDB Rating: 4.7/10
  5. Predators (2010) - IMDB Rating: 6.4/10
  6. The Predator (2018) - IMDB Rating: 5.4/10
  7. Prey (2022) - IMDB Rating: 7.2/10
  8. Predator: Killer of Killers (2025) - IMDB Rating: Not available
  9. Predator: Badlands (2025) - IMDB Rating: Not available

Whilst we're on Anderson and the masterpiece that is The Grand Budapest Hotel....I recently rewatched Wes Anderson's The Phoenician Scheme and still couldn't warm to it !
I mean his films are never going to be bad for me but this just didn't cut it,sorry Wes ☹️

Inclined to agree. I like Wes's films a lot, Phoenician Scheme, whilst on similar lines and style, is bit on the dull side, and a bit "so what?"

Not seen it myself as not my thing but wife and eldest went to watch Hamnet and they thought it was very dull and boring which made me even more convinced I made the right decision.
As was said above, taste in flms very personal

My wife went on her own and didn't last the distance. We'd previously seen and enjoyed the play it's based on.

Finally seen this. Wow. An odd film, in that it wouldn't exist - or have any point - without the Batman "legend", and not a great deal happens*.

But it is SUPERBLY done. I have never felt so tense for 2hours solid. Wack'ims performance was just mesmerising.
*This is quite a good feature - I was expecting a lot more action, violence, blood etc.

(and kudos to Bob DeNiro for taking on that role [no spoilers!])

Excellent film, so different than the run of the mill stuff.

For me, watched Deliverance again t'other night, another film that doesn't suffer from age, its still very very watchable
