Just looked to see who the support was - David McAlmont - was he that bad in the latest incarnation? He's got an amazing voice.

My wife has made a point of reminding me that the sound system was probably to blame. She had looked up the band on Youtube to listen to a few tracks and really enjoyed them. It was difficult even to make out what he was saying to the audience between songs too, so maybe my criticism is undeserved.

it is a good venue. I saw Leftfield and the Chemical Brothers there too. The floor is the bounciest I've ever experienced.
Where I grew up so seen loads of bands/concerts. there..it's also where I fell in love with the Stone Roses 😁
But I do love venues like that....rarely can I be bothered nowadays for the football size stadium, concerts where your watching so far away on a TV.
Ritz in Manchester is another great venue for the bouncy dancefloor experience..been to some great nights there.

Stereophonics in Kingston. Shortish set, stripped back, but really good. I still don't really understand what they were doing there, but happy to have them practically on the doorstep.

There was a Q&A before Dakota and, as always, it was excruciating.

Not last night but a couple of weeks ago (I haven't been around these parts much for a while), I managed to fit in two in a week.

I was at the O2 Academy in Leeds to see the Pixies on Monday 19 May, and at Sheffield Arena on the Friday of the same week to See Kylie Minogue. I do like a good contrast, and both shows were great in their own way.

Lionel Ritchie at the 02 on Friday night: Very good, he still has that 'thing' (or, at least he did to us) and we had floor seats so weren't too far away. The negatives were that if you have a couple of tall people in front of you it makes viewing a but tricky, and we also had a couple of p*ssed up Cockney w*nkers* behind us who ended up getting thrown out. I'm a pacifist, but one of the blokes came very very close to that changing.

Last night it was Mamma Mia The Party, also at the 02. I can't even begin to tell you how good it was. Soz f you hate Abba and all that, but it was absolutely brilliant.

Massive Attack in Manchester.
Such a great band live.... fiercely political and rightly so,leaves you plenty to think about.
Top night ❤️

Last 10 days or so:
Lucy Dacus - acoustic and a bit downbeat for me
Little Simz - THIS WAS AMAZING. Such an energy, a great, great gig.
Pulp - great show but not as good at the O2 as at Hammersmith. Also too many people want to go to the bar for £10 pints while the show is on. Crazy.
Chaka Khan - at Hampton Court which is a lovely venue. She screeched. Brought Mica Paris on for one song and she was great.
Paul Heaton again tonight.

I admire your dedication to live music, and such a diverse mix. I only know Little Simz from Top Boy, will have to check out her music. Agree re. people wandering off/going to bar mid-set. Pffft, bloody Millenials and GenZ!
