Daryl Hall last night at Royal Albert Hall London - very mixed bag. His voice has pretty much gone, but not his enthusiasm. Overall decent. I heard that a few people walking out and asked for refunds after about 30 mins - bunch of chavs who’d be better off at a WWII memorial gig IMO. Backing band were superb, great harmonies.

Highlight for me was support - Glenn Tilbrook (of Squeeze fame) - absolutely great. He came on for a couple of songs with Daryl as well - Pulling Mussels was fantastic.

So overall pretty good, but Daryl Hall at 78yrs is sadly very obviously in the twilight of his career now. His fractious fallout with John Oates probably hasn’t helped his available live playlist either.

No more gigs planned for this year at the moment - need to get booking!

Sad to see the greats still going when they're clearly not able to pull it out of the hat live. Loved early Hall and Oates and Daryl's House was excellent at times.

Peter Doherty doing an acoustic album launch set on Tuesday. He's on form, but the whole thing was just the right side of chaos.

Most songs started as a new one then became an old Libertines song partway through then went back, or started as Waterfall by the Stone Roses and then mutated into another song then went back etc. Should have had more confidence in the new songs like "pot of gold".
Finished with Jack Jones from Trampolene coming on to play guitar while Doherty sang "we'll meet again" and then sold fanzines to the crowd for £10 cash.

Public Image Limited at the O2 in Bristol. The tour is titled "This is not the last tour"; presumably a play on their song "this is not a love song" and a dig at farewell tours

Very good indeed. Lydon is an excellent front-man with actually quite a good voice and the pitching of his characteristic shout-singing was spot on and he has a great sense of phrasing too. The band and Lydon were very tight, musical and professional. Recommended - (providing you like that sort of thing)

Okay, it wasn’t last night but we went on holiday right after and we’re not long back. We saw Andy Bell (half of Erasure) at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. He was really very good, which is a lot more than can be said for the support act.

He did new stuff and several classics like Blue Savannah, Sometimes, Oh L’amour and A Little Respect.
A nice we trip down memory lane.

Just looked to see who the support was - David McAlmont - was he that bad in the latest incarnation? He's got an amazing voice.

I'm currently in Leeds to see a a goth covers band at the Brudenell tonight. Then back here again on Wednesday for Wet Leg at the O2 Academy and again on Sunday for Bug Teeth at the Brudenell.

I’d never heard of them (there was a singer and a guy on keyboard). The singer was rather bad in parts, and since they were dressed in black I thought it was maybe two of the stage/sound guys having a laugh before the professionals came on. Couldn’t make out any of the lyrics and every song seemed to have the same tune. It made it a very long night.

I guess this was 30 years ago now.
