...you "follow" someone?

I've added a number of people recently and expected that I would get an alert every time they posted, which I don't.

I not actually complaining, because I just wanted a list of other forum members as an aide memoir (riders local to me, similar interests etc), rather than because I wanted to know everything they wrote, I'm just curious.

Could I have turned off these alerts? In which case could someone please remind me where this option is found.

It's News Feed, not Alerts, that will tell you what the people you follow have been up to. Hover over the drop-down by your username on the blue bar. Alerts tells you about threads or forums you are watching.
