Not a lot, but I think the CAAD5 was the last model before BB30 was introduced.

It was the type that Cipollini was riding for Saeco Cannondale when he won the World Championship road race at Zolder in 2002.

Caad 8 and optimo had sq BB..

I think they produced the 9-13 at the same time which were lighter....

Thought I`d spray my 105 brake block holders as the matt black looked a bit tired. Cleaned down with white spirit and then sprayed with a silver paint I already bought for touch up for the bike, Wilier Montegrappa. The paint was good old Duplicolour, BMW I think.

Fettled on the Ridley X-Bow: put on wider tyres and new inner tubes, cleaned and attached the chain tensioner, put on a single speed chain, pulled in new brake cables and adjusted the brakes and the chain tensioner.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Last year I upgraded son no. 2's Columbus X-Wing cross bike for SWMBO to use on the smart turbo, but she never did and it's now back with him.

She wants to have another go but indoors (the smart turbo is in the conservatory and it can get very cold in there).

So this evening I pulled out her Specialized Globe Daily step through Dutch bike and put it in our guest room/ spare office with an old non-smart turbo. It's got a 7-speed hub drive.

All working ... eventually ... and we'll see if it's used.

Hmm, I don't know where I got that idea from then!

I once saw a detailed history of the CAAD range, but I can't find it now.

Nearly two hours to fit disk rotors this morning. I ended up filing the back of a Spyre caliper to avoid spoke rub, and cutting two foil spacers for the front rotor to avoid pad rub. Prior to cutting foil spacers I tried filing down a freehub / cassette spacer to little avail.

Moving on to the rear, it would appear that the locking will not pass over the Hope QR adapter and the QR adapter does not pass through the lockring. Perhaps there's a way of tightening the locking and adapter together with a longer cassette tool. At the moment it's hand tightened.

Heres the bike in its current state with original Genesis handlebar and stem, dynamo lights crudely fitted and 26er mudguard temporarily fitted.I have ordered some touch up paint and plan to clean rusty off drivetrain, but right now I'm going to ride it instead!

Been there, tried that.
Nope.
Then asked Hope how to deal with that and they told me to remove the QR adapter for working on the lockring.

Thanks for the suggestion, I couldn't get the QR adapter on with the lockring in place, but I'll have the wheel off again soon and give it another go. Could be that the end caps need swapping sides
