It wasn't me!
I find some people bring their old job with them and indulge in absurdities to the annoyance of others.
Otoh it can make sense if there are methods and concepts properly adapted to the new job. As a former Unix sysadmin eg. I've learned good practises how to find the root cause of a problem. That knowledge helped me today in my job as a homehusband to liberate a scarf of the spouse out of the vac hose - without any damages or injuries.

Does he not realise he is no longer in the car industry then ? ^_^

I know what you mean: I think he's just had one customer too many getting stroppy about a slipping chain after they told us not to replace the cassette, or similar.

OTOH, if you had been a windows sys admin, you probably would have bought a new vacuum cleaner, a new scarf, and potentially a new spouse.

Dt 700's back on the Stayer all road and mudguards adjusted so I can now get 35's in without any adjustment, had a quick play with a qr wheel to see if a 38 would fit but it's a 'maybe' at the moment until i pop a 38 on a ta wheel.

While messing with the tyres I took the time to give the qr 700 wheels a proper clean as I had just stashed them away when stripping the Trek commuter down so they are now all clean and in wheel bags ;they will store in the loft with the Trek frame to make a bit more room in the shed, dunno if they'll ever get used again though.

Also realised I have loads more stuff that needs sorting and probably getting rid of as there are still four storage boxes of various bits' pair of Halo Vapour rims, a pair of Windspace carbon tub rims, two boxes of tyres , a bag of mostly B&M dynamo lights, four different racks (a Pelago, two Tortec and an old Nimrod front rack) and then four other wheel sets although they are all with different tyres to swap around with.

And there is the Trek steel hybrid/tourer in the loft with more parts .
