I've made a few things to save a few pennies. The most recent ones were a pair of mudguard extensions for the knockabout bike as the cheap mudguards are too short:

They're made from aluminium sheet and attached with cable ties. I'm quite pleased with them, especially the front one which keeps almost all the road spray off the bottom bracket area.

There was also a pair of lamp brackets so that I could mount two lights on to the rack of each of my main bikes:

Good for a bit of extra visibility and provides back up in case one fails.

I built a combined voltage-doubler/flasher circuit so that my light can run on batteries that are too flat for most other uses. It works so well I'm going to convert a second light to be the same.

I've built an offset light mount for my T6 light that fits instead of the front reflector on my Brompton, it gives me a permanent fitted light that sits perfectly into the fold and is protected within it

This is my kind of thread! Saving money makes me smile! Looking forward to getting some ideas! I'll try and dig out some pictures of mounts ive made for my phone using a phone case

I made a quick release mount for my rear mudguard when it's original mount snapped.
I've also permanently fixed my two rear lights to the back of my saddle bag, well out of the 'coat-zone'.
On my old MTB i made a crud-catcher from the side of a bottle of Fairy Liquid, but removed it because everybody took the p!ss

But what I'd like to make is a nice wicker basket to put on the front of my current MTB.... or
