I went to primary school with the BBC presenter Rajesh Mirchandani. Several of his relatives were also there. They were originally from Lagos, Nigeria. I didn't realize it at the time but they were probably refugees from the Civil War.

Just remembered another one. When I was a teenager, Mike Harding slept in my bed (I was moved to my brother's room for the night), when he was a guest at the folk club my parents were involved in running.

This was in teh mid '70s, when he ws already fairly well known, though 20 years before he started regular presenting on Radio 2.

Another claim to fame, was I went to the same school as Stuart Sutcliffe and although he was there a few years before me, we both took art and had the same teacher. My art came to nothing, but many years after his death, they found one of his works in the art cupboard and they sold it to fund some project.

Ah, STUART Sutcliffe, not Peter as I originally thought! 🤦‍♂️😆

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
When I was in SAR one of the other search managers was not only bearded but bore an uncanny resemblance to Peter Sutcliffe. Unsurprisingly he was known to all as Sutcliffe, or Sutters if we were feeling kind.

In the late 90s I had a conversation with a colleague at work who turned up sporting a snazzy goatee.

Me: I've just realised who you remind me of with that beard.
Colleague: Yeah yeah, Beppe out of Eastenders, I hear it all the time.
Me: No, not Beppe. Peter Sutcliffe
Colleague: Who?

How old was he (or you for that matter)? 🤔

He was born in 1954, so would have been 16 (Commonwealth Games were after his birthday which was in March).

Got my mug and my Royal Mail Leeds Cycle Team in the MORNING Yorkshire Post, that takes some doing. The |Leeds General Infirmary were doing a fundraising for a Telemetry machine, don't ask what it does.So we rode to Scarborough and finished at a mates fish and chip shop,he got some coverage and a mention in a fish and chip magazine. Our money was not enough, but on the Monday some big wig of a company in Leeds read the morning Post and his company coughed up the rest of the money.i was called by fundraising and told it was our ride and report in the Post that got them the extra.

I used to work with a bloke who also bore an uncanny resemblance, to make it worse his name actually was Pete. 😂

He probably didn't know it but at work he was known as the ripper.
