I have an additional part time job that pays £320 every month. I use the whole lot on my bikes (I now have 3 really good bikes)

End of October, I get my Garmin Edge 1000 bundle, plus the Garmin radar system (I never spent the full amount last month, so with this month's pay and the left over from last month, I will have enough to get both)

I will then start saving the £320 per month till I have enough to buy a used recumbent bike (one that you use your arms to peddle)

last month I bought an 8x10 metal garden shed for my bikes

My bike cost £600 5 years ago.
Over that time my maintenance has settled at 2 chains a year, 1 cassette a year and chain rings every 2 years. probably 2 tyres a year. New wheels and BB last year. Lets say I've probably spent the same cost as the bike in maintenance over 5 years. Generous estimate, I've probably spent another "bike value" of £600 on cycling clothing in 5 years. Thermals, longs, merino tops, gloves, overshoes, good coat etc. That's £1800 in 5 years so again adding further pessimistic rounding lets say I've end up spending £400 a year.

My current most economical car will get me to work throughout the year for £1500 in fuel alone. I'm not even going to start thinking about car maintenance etc.

I think I'm winning

Never eaten cake. My fuel of choice is Lidl muesli bars. They are about £1 a box of 8, and I have 1 per 40 miles during a ride.

I'm fuelled by these Lidl, Choco & Caramel bars, 75p a pack of 6. Like a small Mars bar.

I bar every hour, but only when I'm on my bike...................

What was the comedy show that featured a backrupt south American nation where the price of everything was always followed by 'million, million, million, million, million.... '? (Basically sod all).

My total spend you see, feels like:

One hundred thousand million, million, million, million, million, million, million, million, million, million, million, million, million, million

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Over the last 25 years?

Not the slightest clue. Feckin loads.

'Worth it' doesn't come into it though.

About 8p a mile, excluding the capital cost of the bikes. Cycling gear like shoes, jackets and gloves fall apart after a while. I don't get anything flasher than Wiggle's own brand but it all adds up.
