nothing but the ambient sounds around me when cycling... when sitting about, anything really.

I have one of those newfangled iPod things which i sometimes use when strolling around... on that is some of the original score from An American Werewolf in London which makes anywhere feel a bit menacing when those tracks come on. Then there's bits of old library music, which make me feel like i'm in a public information film.

Give Public Service Broadcasting a listen. They sample those old films and make some pretty kick ass music.

+1 on curlews. Lapwings and a vee of migrating geese.

The tumble and splash of a river or beck over rocks.

Night-time sounds - as long as there is no grumbling undertone of a busy road; gotta ride some for that sort of peace.

Really hot days when you're hammering along and ride over soft tarmac, its sticky, sounds like you're riding over cornflakes.
On holiday, walking down country roads, the smell of olive trees and the sound of cicadas in the tree and virtually nothing else...peace and quiet.
Psychodelic music.
Seagulls in holiday towns.
Then there's the powerful stuff...throbbing engines, the Merlin, jet engines in the distance...and one I remember like yesterday, the lowrumble of Vulcans taking off from Waddo or Scampton.
