Last time I was in Birmingham I rediscovered the joy of faggots (fnaar fnaar!).

Delicious!
When MIB:2 had it's opening in Birmingham, there was a phone in by BRMB for what questions to ask Will Smith on the red carpet. The number one question by the end of the day was "Will have you enjoyed any faggots whilst you have been in Birmingham?"

Heres a word that seems specific to the black country, not sure of the exact spelling, but its prounounced "Co-lay-va" or "co-ha-va"

To put it in context it could be used thusly: "Gi it a gud co-lay-va"

A point to anyone that knows what it means, but 2 points to anyone that knows its origins.

My Mrs is from Coventry (styvechale) and she can't understand her noisy neighbours from Birmingham. Being a London lad, they all sound the same to me once we pass Watford:-)

Did Mrs 530kam go to the Primary School in Green Lane? Was that Styvechale Primary School, opposite the shops on Kenpas Highway?

I had the pleasure of living in Birmingham for years. Needed a phrase book in places like Tipton and Dudloi at first where they speak a different lingo altogether. Great city, great people. The ones I knew at least. It's a big city so the minority of whiners are big enough to be noticed. I'll tell you something, if you think the Brummies are whiners they have nothing on the East Midlands, especially folks from Leicester. I couldn't believe it when we moved from Brum. Now I like to moan in Leicester exclusively about Leicester people moaning. That winds them up something rotten ;)

Last time I was in Birmingham I visited the top of the tallest building in the city, they all spoke techno. speak there!.

It's anorak time. Which building? I used to visit Alpha tower to work techno and was always told it was the highest point in the city. Not sure if that was the tallest building rather than being built on high ground.

As a brummie working in Lutterworth, there really does seem to be a bit of a divide. They dont seem to be into sarcasm, been a few times I have had to explain I was just joking where as most brummies wuda nown it. (Little joke for the brummies in there!)
