I caught a very powerful tail-wind in Battersea Park yesterday as I came home. Oh boy! ....it more than made up for the evil head-wind in the morning. Pure joy.

Hoping to start commuting next Monday and continue for the next year

I find that keeping it interesting is key to motivation. It gets pretty lonely on commutes; have you considered commuting with others? Vlogging might be good, too, though I've only seen the motorcyclists do it for some reason.

and that was from Queens road to Central
what motivates me is the odd times i use the 257 and 25 bus to come into town. that and the cost of the tube if i didn't use the bus. £40 a week adds up to a huge amount each year.
I basically follow this - I cycle every day unless I specifically need the car for something. Always resent it when I have to take the car as it costs £5 in fuel alone (probably another £1 wear/tear/consumables etc), plus I sit in a jam, and miss out of the enjoyment of the ride.

Don't really need that much motivation as it's arguably quicker and easier and less stressful by bike. However, money is a factor, I really notice if I've been forced into the car for more than two days a week. Also weight management is easier - I get 500 calories to spend! And finally, on these cold mornings, watching people scrape their windscreens makes me smile.

I like the wide awake feeling riding a bike gives me at 5:30am. So having a choice of car or bike this morning I took the latter. Had a lovely ride in to work, just one problem, its over too quickly. Had business in town way home and its so much easier with a bike.
