A friend of mine was knocked off his bike in front of me a few weeks ago.

He's fine, and incident details aside, he decided to let the driver pay for a new bike and leave it at that.

In my opinion all incidents, particularly where the driver is at fault should be reported, but what is it we're meant to do?

Are there rules on this or is it each to his own?

Report the incident .... not to late to do so (if the driver is at fault)
Your friend may have damaged something (body) that shows up few years down the line ...

OP - I just hope a) your friend is OK, and b) they weren't riding in a similar position to the cyclist in the Jeremy Clarkson thread......

Yep, this all happened...driver stopped, exchanged details...and agreed to sort it out.
What else do you think should happen?
You'll be suprised at the number that go back on their word. And it is reportable, like it or not.
