Agreed. I stuck Dexter out to the end of the first series then gave up completely.

I did that with the mercifully short first season of The Walking Dead. There wasn't a single character in it that I cared one jot about and hoped they'd all be killed and eaten!

One I did stick with till the end and wished I hadn't was Sons of Anarchy. I recommend giving up at the end of season 4. The rest is a slog.

SOA is a guilty pleasure, I've watched it a few times and just enjoy the random violence and nonsensical decisions they all make.

Bu the time of the last series they are dropping a lot of bodies all over the place, with little disregard for hiding it, in reality a major investigation would have been started and the whole town been shutdown.

One thing I do like is watching and waiting for The Shield alumni to show up, by the end I think most of the main cast has showed up in one role or another!

Really enjoying Karen Pirie season 2.
It might be that it's been delayed for so long or that it features locations from holidays of my youth that's making me gush, but I stayed up way past my bed time to watch it.

Kinghorn (definitely remembered from childhood holidays) and Inverkeithing (less so), if I'm not mistaken.

Two really good and different programs I have watched in recent months.
*Disclaimer, I love foreign drama with subtitles*
Reacher series 3 - Fantastic action from start to finish, and although it's been probably more than 20 years since I read the book, so my memory is not all that, it was close enough (for me) to the story line to do it justice. The big guy, whose name I forget, is awesome in the part, almost as I pictured Reacher from the description in the books, but I probably pictured him a bit older, though of course if they get to ten series that would probably meet my mental picture by then. His name just came to me, Alan Ritchson?

I've never been able to watch one of the so called Reacher films, and have no plans for that to change.
I don't mind cruise, but to cast him as Reacher was an ego trip to end all ego trips, disappointed Child signed it off really, but then I guess there was a mahoosive check (see what I did there) to act as a Persuader....

All4 App / Walter Presents - Cold Summer - set in the early 90s, and in a beautiful location.
It's not a fast moving action packed program, but it's beautifully shot, written and acted, 9/10 from me.
It was filmed in 2023, and is from book 1 of a 3 part trilogy, so dearly hoping for 2 more.........

Thanks for the Cold Summer recommendation, just finished it, Mrs Gunk and I really enjoyed it.

We watched "Under The Bridge" last night

my wife has read the book and says it is very good - so she knows the plot

but having not read the book I can see lots of possible things that could have happened but there are no clues what did happen

and it the episode was good and I end up not knowing where it is going then it is often well written etc

I hate watching the frist episode of a cop drama and already knowing what is going to happen
(unless that is the idea as some do )

Currently watching The Lost World TV series from 1999. Total Trash TV! It does have very very bad cgi dinosaurs but also some rather busty babes in leather bikinis. I can forgive the bad effects and lack of storyline.....

Is that the one with Bob Hoskins?

Karen Pirie.
Has the makings of a good programme but utterly ruined by the constant ad interruptions. Every 10-12 minutes is overkill.

Back on tonight. Yes, it’s good but I think the ads seem to be getting worse lately. You barely seem to get started into a programme now before the first ad and it feels like they go on longer too.
