Back on tonight. Yes, it’s good but I think the ads seem to be getting worse lately. You barely seem to get started into a programme now before the first ad and it feels like they go on longer too.

Not helped by the current version of the Virgin TV system
we used to be able to whizz through the adverts and pretty much stop at the restart of the programme

when we switched to Sky and then back to Virgin - they had "upgraded" the system to be more like using a tablet
which was pretty dumb as it is on a TV with no touch and you are using a small remote - and the fast forward seems to have an inbuilt delay so it always stops a few minutes into teh programme even if you spot the dividing line and stop it instantly!

Karen Pirie.
Has the makings of a good programme but utterly ruined by the constant ad interruptions. Every 10-12 minutes is overkill.

Let me guess? A mid ranking TV detective with weird surname, complicated home life and perhaps a mysterious backstory ?

And they work in a strange world where "get scenes of crime down here" doesn't involve spending an hour and 40 minutes filling out an E form, only for it to be rejected without explanation when they're on their rest days?

It’s only make believe. It spoils the enjoyment if you take some of the dramas too seriously.

You’re doing Val McDermid a big disservice there.

You are mostly incorrect in your guess.

Wrong, it's about a stale male cycling forum member who treats the place as his own domain, and believes that any tastes not in alignment with his own are only worthy of derision.

Ah, a gender and cultural based insult - you must be very proud.

For all that, I've never seen Karen Pirie before and it would seem that my random tongue-in-cheek stab in the dark turned out to be a perfect description of the premise. Your insult doesn't detract from the fact that Im bang on target with my guess.

In the dibble we avoided police dramas like that as totally unrealistic, so we'd watch Holby and Casualty.

Ambo staff watched the Bill as they felt Holby and Casualty were so unrealistic...

Trumpton watched whatever they wanted and didn't know any better.

Going off that that logic, the Fire Brigade (AKA Icarus) wouldn't watch Londons Burning, so what did they watch? 🤔

Extraordinary. Everyone has superpowers, which after a while is unremarkable. So the main plot is an ethically challenged Irish girl. Fairly lightheaded and quite funny in places
