Operation Dark Phone: Murder by Text

Nonsense title aside this was fascinating, it's about a police operation that was being fed information from French police from an encrypted phone system used by criminals worldwide. It tells 4 main stories/investigations that were broken open by the level of information they were getting.

And the cases are still coming to court ! So much Intel it's taking them years to prosecute.

Anyone else watching Whitstable pearl?

We enjoy it and I manage to stay awake so can't be too bad

24Hrs In Police Custody

I've always liked this but 2 recent cases have really hit hard. The first is about the dissaperence and suspected murder of an elderly woman, her lodger is suspected and it gets very gruesome. It's seems like a very sad case of someone who cracked under the pressure of caring for a now senile and frail woman, but details start to emerge of his lifestyle that gives cause for concern.

The 2nd is about a serial rapist, known for his party attitude and fondness for bringing young (but of age) girls to his house where later 2 accuse him of drugging and raping them. He's suspected of many more and it's only by a very lucky find by good police work that they are able to deny him bail - he's an absolute manipulator and definitely would have tried to influence the victims he had been granted bail.

Yes - we tend to watch that

it is pretty good and shows a reasonably realistic view of what really happens

or so I assume - never done it myself

so far anyway!!!

Fisk series 3. There's always a worry with subsequent series that the quality will dilute but the first episode is promising.

Promising. I enjoyed the first two series as light easy watching. Similar with Loudermilk, although that no longer appears to be available.

It's fascinating.

The thing I dislike is when the crims just 'No comment' everything in the interview,

They do that on the advice of their solicitor.

They think theyre being cleaver, but theyre not.

Often a simple and clear denial will end it then and there, but no comment maintains doubt and possibility of a guilty plea at court, and the solicitor gets paid again if it gets to court...

I know someone who was arrested for "something bad"
turned out that it was a case of stolen id and the person they wanted was miles away

He was advised to go "no comment" but ignored it and helped them all he could to sort it out
he even stayed in the station after they said he could go in order to be available if they needed more info

I picked him up from the station when he left and the Police actually thanked him for all his help

I don't normally go for true crime gubbins like this as it's usually mind numbingly tedious and not particularly shocking, but I found this one interesting on a number of levels.

If you know the story you're not going to get anything from it, but if you don't I'd recommend it.

You tell that Netflix were thinking about chopping it up into 3 parts but wisely resisted, realising (I suspect) that folk would just Google what happened after the first episode and not bother with the others.

After eventually getting a 'Firestick' *, after issues with Virgin, I've watched a few things
Still getting the hang of it though!!

Earlier this evening, 'management' & myself watched the first 2 episodes of series 2 of Wednesday
It appears to have taken some inspiration from other series/films

The flying 'bonfire bird', surely that's Gandalfs fireworks, at Bilbos birthday, at the start of The Lord Of The Rings (The Fellowship Of The Ring)
The Professors head in a jar, has got to be from Futurama
The chained up Zombie, in the shed, from the 80s horror-film Day Of The Dead?

* I always knew that name as a CB antenna

Just watched all 5 episodes of 9/11 - One day in America (On National Geographic channel).
Really interesting and sometimes shocking series based upon the personal experiences of firemen, medics and also those working in the twin towers.
