Available from Morrisons. Usually priced about £12 but regularly on offer for £5-6. Really smooth and I've found a bottle can disappear startlingly quickly.

Having said that, if anyone knows of something similar I might enjoy, I'm open to suggestions.

Awesome. I've not had Buckie in a year or so, due to the startling intensity of the hangover. A wee can could be the perfect quantity.

Cue loadsa videos of neds necking 8 cans in a row before embarking on a murderous rampage.

As for wine, we like the Lindeman's shiraz. We drink enough of it that it's now known as house red.

I've a collection of poncey fine wine that we received for our wedding (it beats Denby crockery...) but that said, I've yet to go wrong with a £5-£7 Aldi wine.

Gold Label Only available in cans these days I think.
Yes lots of pubs still sell them in bottles BUT they are only 6% now. I was drinking Bateman's Vintage cask a month or so back and that was 7.5% so hardy the strong stuff anymore. Definitely not a Barley wine. Would suggest John Willie Lees Harvest Ale around 11%. Mixed years though. No picking your own year
anymore. I believe Thomas Hardy's is being brewed again. I have a load which say don't drink for 25 years......from the 70s. If you really want a Barley wine then go to beers of Europe. Not been on there for a while but they will have them and couple of thousand other beers!!

Bought a 3 30 year old ports from Aldi 2 years ago. Drunk 2. To stop myself drinking 3rd one when I have had a few I hid it. It will be a lot older than 32years when I eventually find it!!!

This is for wine drinkers.

1) what type of wine do you drink (red or white)?

2) brand or name?

3) what shop do you get it from?

4) and price?

5) any recommendation on any red wine I should look out for?

I drink red wine called Shiraz from the Co Op at £5.95 it's pretty nice, very smooth on the tongue, has a rich smell. But goes down well.

Judging by the looks the Landlord gives to people who ask for a particular type of red or white wine I suspect people on the Lincolnshire Wolds will stick to tractor oil! For the snobs unused tractor oil, dehydrated tractor oil for the alkies and for the environmentalists like myself used tractor oil....or Bateman's XB

Just came across this thread through the search function. Interesting to hear all the views on wine. Over the past year one of my work colleagues has put on a number of tasting sessions and they've been a real revelation. I'm still very much on the nursery slopes but definitely much better able now to pick out the flavours and generally a much better appreciation of it all. A very enjoyable journey so far and with lots of ground still to cover
