Set of handlebars sticking out of my panniers. A fellow cyclist was wondering why, until I showed him the bent ones on the bike that I had damaged that morning !

My bike - I managed to banjax my derailleur in south London so I got a Barclays bike and slung the bike over my shoulder to get the final couple of miles home!

A fully specced Mac tower with two twenty inch cinema displays was probably the most memorable. Set off speed cameras, it did.

Not me, but in Tunisia a few years ago a saw the local plummer, his bike loaded with long pipe, coiled pipe, bags of fittings, tools etc.

I saw a man cycling down the embankment with a stepladder the other day.

However, for myself, the oddest thing I ever carried was my choice of clothing. I once used to live in Brighton, but I used to keep my motorbike in Portslade 4 miles away for fear of it getting stolen. More than once I could be seen cycling along Western Road in full two piece motorcycle leathers (and boots), with my full-face helmet hanging off the end of the handlebars. I won no prizes for style, but I felt safe in the knowledge that should I come off, my skin would at least be well protected!
