In years to come I shall sit with my grandchildren on my knee as they excitedly ask me about the Great British summer of 2012, when we had the Olympics and the Queen's Jubilee and they'll ask me to tell them stories of what it was like. I shall tell them it was all just for nobbers.

Street party, same as for last years wedding. I was sceptical when it was suggested but had a good time and it was a fantastic day for the kids. 12 houses (12 young kids) no "outsiders" allowed, all catering has been fairly delegated and everybody has chipped in the same amount of cash. Like last year we'll have plenty of bunting, a bouncy castle, football goals and space hoppers, with added "Olympic" games! Most of us get on well and as the alcohol flows it brings the quieter folk out of their shells and the 3 people who live on their own have a particularly good time.

It only takes a little effort from adults to give children something they'll always remember.

That's the right attitude!

I have nothing special planned - I'll be at NT's over the weekend and we're hoping to go to a steam rally on Sunday. I'll be back in York on Monday, so I'll probably wander round and see if anything's going on, and maybe treat myself to a small alcoholic beverage with my dinner. Tuesday I'm back at work. I might wrap my sandwiches in a union flag napkin in order to annoy my republican colleagues.;)

I may take one of my vintage roadsters for a ride in celebration of British engineering.

Just like I always make a point of riding one of my Dublin built Raleigh on St Patrick's day and one of my Peugeots on Bastille Day.

I'll be out for a long bike ride since Mrs Gti will be glued to the telly. Later I will catch the highlights (the sinking of the royal barge, the royal horse farting loudly, etc.) on the evening news.

The You Tube video - when the royal barge's engine cuts out and it swings sidewards, getting stuck under Tower Bridge until the tide turns - will go viral.

Here for rides.
Won't be celebrating the jubly in any way shape or form. Will be staying in Canterbury post FNRttC for the weekend and bumming about on a bike (weather depending) avoiding the bunting on the Monday and Tuesday.

I shall be generally relaxing, walking, going down the pub, out for a cycle ride, out to see a local band etc. I am ambivalent about the Queen and the Jubilee, it's just an opportunity to spend time with friends and family.
After all, i don't believe in God or Santa Claus but i always have a good time at Christmas.

There's a street party planned for the kids around here. I have to work on Monday and Tuesday so I'll miss all the fun.
