If this is a thread about what I need to see behind me, then it’s my neck.

Another mirror convert. I started using a mirror (Zefal Spy) when pulling the kids in a trailer and kept it as we progressed into using the tandem, to see them and any traffic approaching us. It turned out that I really missed a mirror during any standard riding and would feel abit lost without one now.

Other than that, I would never ride without a rear camera and a buff for my neck/head.

Mudguards and a helmet are the real essentials on a bike for me (plus the bike itself of course). And a water bottle for any rides over half an hour or so.

I also always carry in the saddlebag a multitool and spare tube plus puncture repair kit, and a pump attached to the frame, and wouldn't like to be without any of them.
