I discovered a guy called Stuart McBride a couple of weeks ago. Crime novel set in Aberdeen. First one Cold Granite was really good. Nothing taxing, just good old fiction. Onto his second one Dying Light and enjoying it as much as the first.

Bit like Rankins books but always seemed to get bored with his at one point or other.

I read one of his recently and wasn't impressed.

Haven't really read any decent crime fiction for a while...

Currently reading Moby Dick.

I review books as part of my job, usually pre-release, but there's nothing particularly special in the last 10 books or so I've read (I read 1-2 a day). However, in my To Be Read pile, is Alan Johnston's story about being kidnapped. Should be a good read, although it's surprisingly short. Released in April, folks.

In what way?

I think he's pretty good. Not life changing reading by any stretch but thought he was a not bad story teller in the mode of Rankin, Grisham etc...
