Has anyone any idea where I put my book? This sort of thing happens all the time!

I am trying to read Forcenés by Philippe Bordas, except the French is bit too hard. What I can understand is pretty good though. Anyway it's about the author's old-time cycling heros: Plissier, Alfred Jarry, Pierre Cheny and more obscure characters down the years...

Paris After the Liberation by Anthony Beevor & Artemis Cooper.

Okay, not as gripping as Stalingrad. It palled for me whan I realised that most of the book came from the recently-discovered memoirs of the then British ambassador so it's a bit narrow in the picture it paints.

I'm reading The Defence of the Realm - a history of MI5 from 1900 or thereabouts. My son and partner bought it for me for chritmas and I fear it may be hard going!

I review books as part of my job, usually pre-release, but there's nothing particularly special in the last 10 books or so I've read (I read 1-2 a day). However, in my To Be Read pile, is Alan Johnston's story about being kidnapped. Should be a good read, although it's surprisingly short. Released in April, folks.

:smile::ohmy: Is that 1 to 2 a day or a half a book a day ??

Whatever it is you must read damn fast.

I recently finished Arthur C Clarke's 'The Last Theorem' and I am now switching between Paulo Coelho's 'The Devil And Miss Prym' and the user manual for a Curtis 1214 speed controller.

very rarely read fiction but I'm always reading something. mainly biographies, crime, paranormal, bike or cars books.

just finishing the Ipswich Serial murders, then I'm onto Spree killers !!!!

i really love those books you get full of old photos of your town. take a look above normal eye level and you would be amazed at how little has actually changed in the last 80 years or so !!! :sad:

Now reading "All the Pretty Horses" by Cormac McCarthy - it's very good.
I've only read two Cormac McCarthys - No Country for Old Men and The Road. Both stunning. Even from just that brace I'd say he ranks with the very best.
