A mate of mine, who was involved in marine research back in the day was very scathing on "dolphin friendly tuna" as a concept. He quite logically argued that we should be eating "tuna friendly dolphin" instead ie preserving the declining tuna and eating the more plentifull dolphins. Environmentalism shouldn't really be about cudliness of animals. Not sure I'd personally be keen on killing dolphins to eat, but it was a good challenge to woolly thinking

No , its north of Watford . So shut yer Watford gap
Amusing, but wrong, thus reinforcing my assertion that its an oft misquoted phrase, mainly by ignorant southerners .

See link to wikipedia earlier in the post for details.

I'm also not sure that Watford Gap is true rhyming slang, so shut your North.

That was meant to be littered with smilies but they haven't come out!

I'm not denying that sonar might be a factor, but whales were running themselves ashore long before submarines. Here's a Dutch one in 1601. At the time, such events were seen as an indication of God's displeasure.

Here's some interesting stuff about past strandings.....from The Japan Whaling Association newsletter. I suspect that's rather like posting an article from The Daily Mail but it's still worth a read.

I think you are forgetting the fact that humans control and are responsible all events in the universe, deliberately or not.

Tsk tsk. Where is your anthropocentrism? Where is your egocentrism? For shame!
