What's the best helmet-mounted/handlebar-mounted camera?

I've been looking around at suitable cameras for use on a bike and wanted the views of the good furumista.

An ideal camera would not be too big and bulky, have good resolution, is versatile in mounting capabilities, is easy to operate, is easy to view and save the footage, cost about 20p.

OK, I know the last one is unlikely but does anyone have any recommendations? Any good or bad opinions on cameras gratefully received.

I suspect the best will be a gopro but it aint cheap. I bought one one of these a few months back and the video quality is excellent and for £40 its a steal. It took a few weeks to arrive mind.

After several incidents with other road users, I have thought about buying a camera. I have seen some at bike shows (Action Cameras) but they are well over £100! £40 seems very reasonable; where did you order it from?

What sort of run time do you get? Looks like you buy the SD card separately, does it have a maximum size? Considering something easy to set up and ignore for my commute, quality just has to be good enough for evidence.

Yes SD card is separate, I bought a 32gb, best ive had is 3 hours before a recharge , it has an LCD screen on the back for menu fiddling and yes the quality is good enough for evidence. Comes with loads of mounts although some of them are a bit naff. You can pickup a spare battery for £6 on amazon as well.

Go Pro Black or Contour HD. But Go Pro is better.

Note: the GoPro Hero3+ has significantly better battery life compared to the Hero3, and is lighter. Definitely not any cheaper, though, but a nice camera nevertheless.

I've been very pleased with the Garmin Virb (basic) when mounted on the handlebars, where it still gives a good stable image when riding on road. I've not tried it off road yet, nor helmet mounted.

Didn't I read a few months ago that the hole in Michael Schumaker's helmet caused by the accident was camera shaped. Doesn't this suggest that helmet mounted cameras create a weak spot and I'm sure nobody wants to end up like he did

You should look at the Sony AS100, excellent camera and best for low light recording.

I don't wear a helmet, but if I did the last thing on Earth I'd do is mount a camera on it. It would either punch a hole through the casing (As implied above) or cause the helmet to rotate on impact and cause injury.

Yeah, but think of all the footage you would get of numptee drivers. You could put it on Youtube and become a minor slebritee.
