Whats the best way to add on a link?

That was a costly mistake I changed my cassette from an 11-25 to an 11-26 and thought I could get away with the existing (2 weeks old) chain length it looks like I should have lengthened it On today's ride there was a bit of a clunk and the derailleur split.

Measuring the chain (big ring - big ring) it looks like I do need another link. Whats the best way of adding on a link rejoining it with the removed pin or buying a new quick link ? I feel the latter will be more reliable what do other folk think?

I always use a chain length calculator because of this. Regarding decision re adding link(s) it depends on the chain, see this.

If it's a 10 speed DO NOT re-use the pin.

Best choice IMO. You can get specific replacement pins, but a missing link is easiest
