Done 48.9mph going down Chain Hill off the ridgeway... went hell for leather and tried to beat that and get 50+ on my ride last night but only managed 48.8. Will have to work on my aerodynamics...

Decending that fast is tiring work!

Hit 41 mph going down a big hill on my hybrid several years ago . Swung into a sharp left at the bottom only to be confronted by a land rover--missed him by two coats of paint but will always remember the look of sheer horror on his face! When I eventually stopped I was shaking like a leaf and all I could do was laugh my head off and ride home rather carefully.

My fastest speeds are as follows:

Uphill: 15mph
Flat: 35mph
Descent: 48mph did that quite recently

This is on a Hybrid, I would love to see what I can do on a proper road bike or a bent.

42.8mph on a damp road on my old Peugeot with chrome rims and marginal brakes. Stupid really as I would never have got stopped if I needed to.

Thanks to poor road surfaces, I can't reach those sort of speeds anymore without risking doing damage to something.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Ive done 60MPH dropping off the snake pass into glossop before now. Doing it again on sunday on some service course jobs. That should be quick.

Just got 55.8mph coming off Holme Moss.

Got overtaken by a motorbike, and next time he looked in his mirror I was right there, grinning like a loon. He accelerated to get away from me.

54mph down Ringinglow Road into Sheffield with a huge tailwind pushing me down in top gear off the Peaks.

Sat up and started to slow when I got near the junction with Common Lane having pushed it from the cattle grid at Burbage. Very shaky legs and wide eyed looks from the kids in the back of the car that had politely tailed me all the way down.

Never even got close to that since...

Oh Dear! A pitiful 28.8 mph going downhill. I can do about 23 on the flat, on a good day, but I start thinking about all kinds of horrible stuff when gravity takes over.
