No 1 is German, made from exotica and electronica. When not in use it lives upstairs in a spare bedroom.
No 2 is American, it appears to be made from mud and grit at present. It has no gadgetry but does all the hard work on a week day. I think it may dislike the German.
I don't think the German considers the American to be a bike.

So it's a fine piece of Kraftwerk, then?

Material, shape of handlebars, cost...all British companies though :becool: The carbon is a bit lighter, but all are 10kg or less naked

Number 3 I am yet to ride...in the pecking order, it's number 1 or 2

No1 Is Carbon, blingy and will blow away in a a bit of wind
No2 Has only 1 gear and its fixed, weighs a wee bit more than No1 and is fitted with winter gear.

Oh and there is considerable amount of cash difference as well.

I would let someone borrow my #2 bike. Lending out my #1 bike would be like pimping out my wife.

How do I decide which is no.1, which no.2, etc?
Cost?
Age?
Suitability for a particular discipline?

The gearing on my knockabout bike (Basso) is much lower than my best bike (Cannondale). I finally realised that I don't ride my Cannondale as much as I would like to and when I do, I avoid a lot of the places that I would like to go on it because 20-25% climbs on 39/29 are a bit too hard, especially into headwinds!

I am in the process of 'triple-ising' the Cannondale. I will keep the 53 and 39 rings and my 13-29 cassette, but will soon have a 30t granny ring for the steep stuff to widen my choice of routes.
