Why? Where were you taking it?

It was injured and was stranded in the middle of the foreshore cycle path, snapping at the ankles of passers-by. There's a bird hospital on Gower so I thought I'd pick it up and take it home with me, with a view to dropping it there later. Ungrateful doesn't begin to cover it. It was quite nice, when my flatmate answered the door, to be able to use the line "Hold my gull for a minute, would you, while I get my bike up the steps" though.

Ah, Gower penisular - beautiful place.
I found an injured baby pigeon in the garden once and called the RSPCA to ask what to do. After a bit of arm-twisting I made a donation to their cause and went back to the pigeon to take it to a vet, but it was gone. A cat must've got it!

Some of the stranger things I've carried include a wheel in one hand, 2 tires slung over my shoulder, and a fairly long 2x4 strapped along the top tube with plastic bags.

Another bike. I once cycled home carrying my Brompton with one arm (you, or at least I, cannot wheel a Brommie whilst riding another machine). People often ask why one of my arms is slightly longer than the other. One day I shall do it again using the other arm to even things up.

On a 45 miler the other week I stopped at a shop, bought a Pot Noodle and rode home with it in my bottle cage.

Quite dreadful
A couple of months ago I saw an elderly gentleman cycling through a dark street with a two foot square table placed flat on top of his bars. Two legs were pointing downwards in front of the forks and two where either side of the top tube. He was steering using the tabletop itself. I congratulated him.

I've carried a bottle of champers home before, but the chap I saw riding a bso whilst carrying a crt monitor is more of a story worth retelling...
