Mrs R has her pre-op assessment today for her neck operation, which is scheduled for 14 Feb. She's having 2 new disks inserted. That'll make it 4 operations in the last year since her bike smash.

Happy Valentines!!!

Hope it goes ok, being married to you it wasn't as if the poor woman wasn't already suffering enough...

Yes, drink less, Kev - it'll be a weight off your shoulds.
I have gout...which can afflict individuals in different ways. (Chacun a son gout) for now, I'm suffering in my left hand. Being a totally natural left-hander, it is a bit of a nuisance to say the least...
Sympathies regarding the Gout, having suffered I'd say removing the offending toe with a blunt machete would be less painful. Fortunately I'm right handed so not so compromised, but it's only a matter of time I think .
C'est la vie!

Are you back home and a touch better this morning?
Yes came straight back afterwards. I did have kind a prickly feeling in my shin in the night so I unravelled the bandage a retied more loosely as instructed. It'll come off later this morning. Currently lying on bed having done my exercises with knee up under ice. Slept reasonably ok, got a sore throat presumably for having been intubated. I'll have some pills with breakfast :hungry:

Hope all goes well @User14044 and that you both get your lives back.

TBH - I'd no idea that discs could be replaced. How do they fit around the central nerve? It's not as if they can be threaded on from one end .........

Best wishes and hope it helps. Are you in overnight, expecting a longer stay or home already?

I was in yesterday for the epidural steroid injections. Ended up with 4 of them and I am more sore now than before! Today had been a day of max codeine, max paracetamol and morphine on top and I am still in a lot of pain. If it does not ease overnight I think I will be ringing the hospital ward for advice sadly.
How are you feeling this morning?

How are you feeling this morning?
Still hurting badly. Had codeine and paracetamol this morning, seriously considering the morphine at the moment  heat therapy helped to get me through the night until 3am that is. For someone who is cortisol deficient you would have thought my body might appreciate some more of  . I'll give it a little longer before contacting the ward. I really want to be able to finalise my recumbent trike purchase today.

I occasionally get a little hayfever but not every year. Other than that there is absolutely nothing wrong with me. No aches, pains or anything. I can even read the smallest writing at the very bottom at the opticians. Perversely this makes me sad as I'm so used to there never be anything wrong I'm dreading old age when I can't do what I want any more, but hopefully if I keep up my cycling, running and doing a few press ups/pull ups occasionally and eating sensibly then that will be a long way off.

It also makes me doubly sad that its taken me till age 30 to realise how lucky I am, my body seems pretty able at just about anything I ask it to do so I wonder what I could have done with it if I realised this in my early 20's (apart from wear it out quicker!)
